What data is required from my school to run Student Voice?Group 8 uses data from each school to populate its online survey service. To enable Student Voice functionality for a school we need a data file (usually exported from the school's admin package) comprising the following fields:
Student ID Code (this can be the UPN in the UK)
Student Surname
Student First Name
Student Gender
Student Year Level
Student Home Group (this being the pastoral care or registration group that the student belongs to)
Student Date of Birth
This data can be emailed as an attachment in .csv or MS Excel format to data@gr8education.com -
What is the process used for Student Voice?Students access a web-delivered survey in which they are (a) asked to rank statements that describe an ideal school and (b) rank their current setting for each statement on a scale of 1-5.
The ranking order that each student determines is recorded, allowing us to generate a report that shows both the relative importance of each statement and the rating that students make for their setting.
The ranking order gives strategic information to the senior leadership of a school, particularly when taking account of the top five or six ranked statements. These top statements give a school's leadership great clarity of focus in terms of strategic action, and directly inform any visioning or strategic development. -
What age ranges can complete a survey?Group 8 has developed three surveys for use in Student Voice:
A 27 question survey for students in Years 5 to 13, with statements based on Group 8's original research into creating thriving schools for students.
A 30 question survey for students in Years 5 to 13, with statements aligned to the Student Feedback survey (where students provide feedback on individual teachers)
A 15 question survey for students in Years 0 to 4, with statements aligned to the Student Feedback survey (where students provide feedback on individual teachers).
Both the 30-question and 15-question surveys can compared to the Student Feedback (on individual teachers), and used as a baseline for teachers when viewing their individual results.
